Fireworks Survey 2024

Welcome! We’re delighted that you’ve selected the 2024 Fireworks Community Response Survey. If you choose to leave your name (which will be kept private), you will become eligible for a $25.00 Starbucks gift card!

Considering that you may have participated in this survey previously, it's important to note that we are implementing different procedures this year. Even though the ban on fireworks in L.A. remains in place, the feedback we've collected from the public, including your input, has been incredibly informative and valuable.

The issue of illegal fireworks use in the City of Los Angeles is an important community concern. It is also a complex matter, as all types of fireworks are illegal to possess, sell, or use within the city limits. While they are also illegal in other communities, many people consider using them a "right," a cultural demonstration, or a patriotic act.

In California, only "Safe and Sane" fireworks are allowed in certain communities. There are 29 Southern California communities where the sale of Safe and Sane fireworks is permitted. These fireworks are restricted to ones that do not explode or fly. It's important to note that any fireworks that explode or fly are illegal throughout the state.

This survey isn’t limited to fireworks use on the 4th of July - it’s relevant to New Years Eve, Chinese New Year, the summer period of June through August, and any other date or time period when fireworks might be used.

We understand the importance of gathering input from the public in order to improve policies and laws. Your thoughts and concerns are valuable in helping us identify ways to reduce threats to human and pet health, and to safeguard property. Your input is truly appreciated.

The information you provide will be used to create a report that may be shared with any agency within the City of Los Angeles. This report will be used to assess best practices and explore potential prevention, enforcement, and other activities to minimize the impact of fireworks in your communities.

Your personal information will not be sold, leased, or otherwise shared with any commercial third party. If you wish to be considered for a free Starbucks gift card, you’ll need to fill out the contact information at the end of the survey. The choice is yours!

Thank you for being a part of this important information-gathering activity.

This information-gathering survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete.

Unless you decide to provide your name at the end of the survey, all responses are anonymous! Your privacy is protected.
